Loop Create is a day of online activities for music makers of all experience levels. You can play and experiment, learn new techniques and exchange ideas with artists and peers from all over the musical map.

It’s free to take part, and we’ll kick off from Berlin at 4pm (UTC+2) on October 29 – just sign up to get involved.

Sam Slater

Sam Slater has produced immersive works across screen and stage, live performance and studio recording. He’ll share his experience of collaborating with Hildur Guðnadóttir, and give insights on how to stay open to other perspectives and points of view.

Maya Shenfeld

Maya Shenfeld explores the intersection between modes of musical production, working with guitar, synths, choirs, scores and more. She’ll guide you through the process of using written instructions to create an open-minded and democratic mood in the studio.

Mustelide

Unafraid to call her music ‘pop’, Mustelide is passionate about pushing herself as a producer and creating sounds from scratch. She’ll take on a live musical challenge to explore the possibilities for breaking out of creative frustration by working with others.

Aquarian

Aquarian enjoys finding the links between genres and figuring out how they can work together, creating what he calls ‘hybrid music’. As a seasoned collaborator, he’ll bring his knowledge of remote co-production to the challenge of getting unstuck with Mustelide.

Gafacci

Gafacci uses technology to collaborate across continents in his production, songwriting and DJ sets. At Loop Create, you can get to know his creative process, best practices and perspectives on collective music-making in an open discussion with you at home.

Juba

With her DJ sets and radio shows, Juba champions African and African diasporic sounds across Europe and beyond. She’s taking part as Gafacci’s friend and collaborator – making her the perfect moderator for an intimate conversation about his process.

Last-minute change

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Hildur Guðnadóttir won’t make it to Loop Create. The keynote interview will still go ahead – Sam Slater will share his perspective on their work together and the art of collaboration.

Theme:
Get Together

When music makers talk about collaboration, the idea of being co-present or ‘face to face’ is sometimes held up as a standard, if not an ideal. This, they say, is how it should be – humans in a room, looking each other in the eye, all hands on deck, making a thing together. But it’s not always possible or even desirable to be in the same room as the people we want to collaborate with.

Luckily, there are more ways than ever to share ideas and work together with other music makers, wherever they happen to be in the world. At this year’s edition of Loop Create, we’ll take a closer look at the ways people are making music together today; pooling their talents and ideas in collaborations, cooperating with each other to do things they couldn’t do on their own, and adding their voices to collective forms of creation.
